FELLOWSHIP SUPPORT FOR ECU RESEARCHER’S PROJECT WITH THE DPAA

Dr. Jen McKinnon, professor of history, has been awarded an additional $75,000 to support another year of the Defense POW MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) research project she has led since 2017.

This funding provides a salary for a Fellow within McKinnon’s project in the Maritime Studies Program, housed in the Department of History. Funding for the fellowship position has now reached $412,484, and this year’s allotment of funds supports current fellow, Joel Cook (MA Maritime Studies alumnus). Cook works on DPAA mission-specific research with McKinnon, will teach Battlefield Archaeology at ECU during the spring semester, and will work on other collaborative endeavors.

This is a wonderful example of the partnership between ECU, the Department of Defense and the DPAA. Learn more about the program’s relationship with the DPAA here.
